Prophet Muhammad pbuh said: there was a man with a vow, "Really, I will give alms to someone. " Then he came out of his house with something and put it in the hands of a thief. Seeing that, people ridiculed his actions. They said sarcastically, "Tonight you give charity to a thief." But the man said calmly, "O Allah, praise be to You that I can give charity even to a thief. Really, I will give charity to someone again ."

Then he left his house carrying alms and handed it into the hands of a prostitute. Seeing that, people ridiculed his actions. They said sarcastically, "Tonight you give charity to an adulterer." But the man calmly said, "O Allah, praise be to You because I can give alms even to a prostitute woman. Really I will give alms to someone again."

Then he came out of the house carrying his alms and gave it to a rich man. So people blame his actions. They said with a sneer, "Tonight you give charity to the rich." The man said calmly, "O Allah, praise be to You that I can give charity to a thief, a prostitute, and a rich person.

At night, the man dreamed. He heard a voice saying, "Your alms to the thief hopefully will keep himself from stealing. While your charity to the prostitute woman hopefully will make her stay away from adultery. And about your alms given to the rich people, hopefully that person can take a lesson from your charity, so that he is willing to spend the wealth that Allah has given him to others." (Bukhari and Muslim)
