Satire for the King (Tagur 40)
Then the king went to his maid's house. When he arrived he knocked softly on the door. The king's maid's wife asked, "Who is knocking at the door?" The King replied, "I, the king and lord of your husband." The wife opened the door and the king entered. The woman asked, "Why did your Majesty come to our house?" The King replied, "I come to visit you." The woman reproached, "I seek refuge in Allah from this visit and I think this is a bad visit." The King said, "Woe to you, I am your king and master. Don't you know this?" The woman replied, "Even I know your Majesty very well. Our ancestors have said in their proverb:
I will leave your water without flowers
For many people desire it
When a fly fell on the dish,
I hold my hand,
Even though my appetite desired it,
Even the lions did not want to come near the lake,
When the dogs had licked the lake.
Then the woman said, "O Your Majesty, you have come to your dog's drinking place, and you want to drink from the used water?" The king was very embarrassed to hear those words. Then he left the woman. But he forgot to put his shoes on and left them in the house.
