So the killer of one hundred people went to the land which had been told by the pious man. After he had traveled half of the distance, the death came for him. The angel of mercy and the angel of doom argued over the killer. The angel of mercy said, "This person came to repent, facing Allah with all his heart." The angel of doom chided, "He hasn't done any good at all."

Then another angel came, disguised as a human, and the two arguing angels made him an intermediary between them. The third angel said, "Measure the distance between the two countries, (the country of the killer came from and the country of the destination ), whichever is closer, then that is where he belongs." Then they measured the distance between the two countries. They found the killer closer to the land he was going to go to. So the angel of mercy took the killer with him. (Muttafaq'alaih).

In another narration, in the saheeh book, the killer was one inch closer to the land of the pious people so that he was included in their class. In another narration, in the book as saheeh, Allah commanded the homeland of the killer to stay away and the country to which he was going to approach. And Allah said, "Measure the distance between the two." Then the angels found the killer one inch closer to the destination. So Allah forgave him.
