The Story of a Cow and a Child's Devotion to His Mother (Tagur 7)
It is said that there was a pious man from among the Children of Israel. He had a small child and a cow. One day he took the cow to a bush, then prayed, "O Allah, I entrust this cow to You for my son until he grows up." The man later died, and the cow lived in the forest for several years. The cow always avoided people who saw it.
Time passed by, his little son grew up. The son had always been devoted to his mother. He divided the night into three parts, a third for prayer, a third for sleeping, and a third for accompanying his mother. When morning came, he went to look for firewood and sold it to the market. Then a third of the money he got he gave to the poor people, a third to buy food, and a third for his mother. One day the mother said to him, "Actually your father left a legacy of a cow for you. He entrusted the cow to Allah in a forest. Go and call the cow by mentioning the God of Abraham, Isma'il, and Ishaq so that God will return the cow The characteristics of the cow are when you look at it as if its body emits a golden yellow light like the light of the sun. The cow was named al-Mudzahhabah (golden yellow) because of its beauty and clarity of light."
Then the boy went to the forest. He saw the cow was grazing. The boy called it, "I swear by God Abraham, Isma'il, Ishaq and Ya'qub that you come to me!" So the cow walked closer until it came to him. Then the boy grabbed it by the neck and led it away. With Allah's permission, the cow could talk and said, "O young man who is devoted to both parents, please, climb on my back, it will make it easier for you." The young man replied, "My mother did not tell me to do that, but my mother said: hold the neck." Then the cow said, "By the Lord of the Children of Israel if you climb on me you will not be able to (do that) forever. So keep going, because if you command the hill to be uprooted from the ground and walk with you, the hill will surely do it. All because of your devotion to your mother."
