From Al-Barra' ibn 'Azib, "We went out with the prophet accompanying the body, the corpse, of an Ansar man. After we arrived at the cemetery and before the body was buried, the Messenger of Allah sat down to rest. We also sat around him, as if above our heads there was a bird. The Messenger of Allah said, "Take refuge in Allah from the torment of the grave two or three times!" Then he said again, "A servant who believes in Allah, a mukmin, when he is about to leave this world for heaven, angels descend from the sky with white faces shining like the sun. They brought shrouds and various fragrances from heaven. Then they stopped (to distance) as far as the eye could see, then the angel of death came to him until he sat beside his head. The angel said, "O pure soul, return to maghfirah (forgiveness) and the pleasure of Allah!" The Messenger of Allah continued, "Then the believer's soul came out (from the body) like water droplets flowing from a vessel. When the angel of death took it, he did not let the person's life even if it was only for the blink of an eye, but the angels put his life in a shroud and perfume (which they carry ) Then, there came out fragrant all around the earth."

The Messenger of Allah said, "Then the angels took him up (to the sky). Every time they passed a group of angels, they asked, "What is this fragrance?" The angel who brought him replied, "Fulan bin Fulan." They called him by the best name given to him in the world. They got to the edge of the sky of the world. Then they asked for the door of the sky to be opened. So, the door of the world's sky was opened for the soul of the believer. Then the muqarrabin angels guarding every sky brought it up to the seventh sky. Allah Azza wa jalla said, " Write down this record of my servant's deeds in illiyyin and return him to the ground as I created man from it, to it I returned them and from it I raised them at another time."

The Messenger of Allah continued, "His spirit was then returned to his body. Not long after that, two angels came and sit him down, "Who is your God?" Asked the angel. He replied, "My Lord Allah." The angel asked again, "What is your religion?" He replied, "My religion is Islam." The angel asked again, "Who is your prophet?" He replied, "He is the Prophet Muhammad SAW." The angel asked, "What is taught to you?" He replied, "(He taught that) I read the book of Allah, so I believe in that book." Then an angelic voice (caller) was heard from the sky, "My servant is indeed true, so spread out a rug from heaven and open the door for him to heaven!" Then at once the fragrance of heaven scattered around him and his grave was spread as far as the eye could see.

Then came someone who was handsome, dressed beautifully, and smelled good. The man said, "Be happy with those who make you happy. Today is the day that was promised to you." The believer asked, "Who are you? Your face in my eyes is a face that brings goodness." The man said, "I am your good deed." The believer said, "O Lord, bring the apocalypse so that I can return (to gather) with my family and property."
