There is no doubt that newspapers played a significant role in providing people with latest news in the past. Its sole role to share news publicly on daily basis had made it the only one source of news that people relied on.  However,  I personally think that the newspapers role in providing the latest information nowadays is becoming lesser. This insignificant role as the result of the development of technology of information that has progressively developed within millenium. Therefore I disagree with the thinking that newspapers is the most effective way to obtain the latest information for several reasons.

First, the invention of  television had replaced the newspaperss role in term of providing the latest information. Television provides information faster and without delay. Moreover it can reach people at the same time inspite of the difference of geographical area. It also presents visual motion pictures that attract people attention. With the significant development of outer space satelite, television can transmit what is happening in live coverage.  Due to these television characteristics, people prefer watching latest information from television to newspapers.

Second, the invention of internet in the late 60s was the mile stone of the changes of people behaviour in obtaining information. Followed by the invention of mobile operating system allowing people to access internet through mobile phone, internet has taken over the newspapers even the television role in providing the latest information. Factors that place internet on the top rank of news sources including its practical, easy and fast accessibility. It also provides visual motion pictures that television offered before.  In addition people are able to go through news online without regarding on the place they are being at.  At the same time we can shift to another news merely by touching the mobile screen. Even while amidst a meeting, someone still has chance to glance on newsfeed on their mobile phone.

Based on the facts above I believe that internet is far more effective to obtain the latest information than the newspapers can do. Thus in my view newspapers is not the effective way anylonger to obtain latest information.
