07.00 AM

Sita, Dini, Datik and Mr. Yanto had sat arround the round table in the dining room. They had turmeric/yellow rice for breakfast. While having breakfast, they reviewed what they had discussed last night. How they would manage the time for workshop with guru mitra and also guru imbas. They planned that after opening ceremony singing Indonesian national anthem, the chief of education department would give a speech, then continued with Mrs. Elah as the representatives from Dirjen GTK. The most important program in the workshop was that Mr. Praptono as the chief of teachers founding from the ministry of education, would like to meet the guru imbas through video streaming. Two guru imbas were allowed to ask questions to Mr. Praptono. The video streaming would also be held in Malinau regency North Kalimantan, Sambas Regency in west Kalimantan, Bireun regency in Aceh, West seram island in Maluku, Mamuju and Majene Regency in west sulawesi.

The video streaming would be broadcast from Jakarta at 09.30 Jakarta time or West Indonesian Time. Therefore the guru inti grup should alter the time, because in Halmahera Utara is using East Indonesian Time. There would be two hours difference with West Indonesian Time. The time in Jakarta 09.30, there would be 11.30 in Halmahera Utara. So, After opening and speech, Datik would deliver a workshop session about lesson plan and syllabus.

07.30 AM

The guru inti and the facilitators were ready for workshop at the hall. Some guru mitra had arrived too. They welcome the guru imbas asked them to sign the attendance list and asked them to fill the biodata form that had been prepared by the facilitators. There were also a staff from Halmahera Utara Education Department to help the workshop.

08.00 AM

While waiting for the chief of Education Department, The guru mitra, Mrs. Mei and Mrs. Hidayati thought the guru imbas about the kemitraan greetings. Mrs. Mei :”If I say “Selamat Pagi, You will answer me with Pagi!Pagi!Pagi!”,

If I say, siapa kita? You will answer me with “program kemitraan”,

If I say adakah program kemitraan di hatimu? You will answer ada and I will ask mana dia? You will answer “ini dia, ini dia, ini dia.”

The guru imbas practiced the greetings very well. Dini, Sita, Datik and Mr. Yanto also came in front to the stage, to practice the kemitraan greetings with all guru imbas and guru mitra. After that, Mrs. Mei, all guru mitra and guru inti taught the guru imbas the kemitraan short songs

“Kemitraan kebanggaanku”

“Kemitraan berinovasi”

“Kemitraan agen perubahan”

“Kemitraan berkarakter”

They sang the song with clapping hand and stamping feet. They repeated it several times, the hall filled with the merry song.

08.30 AM

The group from Education Department finally arrived. Unfortunately, The head of education Department, Mr. Suwarno tongotongo couldn’t come to open the workshop bacause he had to attend a program that he couldn’t be replaced. As the representative, Mr. Herjte Manuel, the secretary of education department would open the workshop. There were also Mr. Jacky palpialy and Mr. Anton Tutupary from education department. Some headmasters from sekolah mitra also arrived. The guru inti were introduced to them. It was a great honour. They are Mr. Karel from SMP 1 Halmahera Utara, Mr. Yerni Betek from SMP 12 Halmahera Utara, Mrs. Adolvina Tutuhatunewa from SMP 6 Halmahera Utara, and Mrs. Djoebeda Higoro from SMP 5 Halmahera Utara. They would accompany and support the workshop. The workshop began with Indonesian National Anthem. Followed by the speech delivered by Mr. Hertje Manuel. In his speech, he said that he appreciated the program and hope it would bring many advantage and progress to the teaching and learning in Halmahera Utara. Then, Mrs. Elah gave her speech as the representatives from Dirjen GTK.

The opening ceremony had over. Then, It was Datik turn to give explanation about the syllabus. Datik was then accompanied by Mr. Jacky Palpialy as the moderator when the guru imbas would like to ask some questions. Mr. Jacky also as the transalator, because Datik found difficulties in accepting the guru imbas words. Sometimes they mixed it with their local language. Yes, Indeed language also became one of the obstacle here. But, it was fine, it gave them new lessons and useful experiences.

11.30 AM

The video streaming began, Mr. Praptono delivered his speech and took a note for some questions from guru imbas arround the country, and aswered it one by one.

The live streaming run very well. After the live streaming, they had lunch break for an hour. Then the workshop continued by gather as subject matter. Sita and her guru mitra would lead the english guru imbas. Sita met the guru imbas and explained what they would do today. They would fill the form of action plan or Rencana Tindak Lanjut. Sita found out that from 10 guru imbas only 5 that were english teacher. There were only few english teacher. Geographic also became obstacle too. The school was very wide in range. Wide spread in some islands.

Therefore to overcome the problem Sita divided the grup. The group consist of two english teacher and the rest were other subject. The group consist of 5 persons. Sita asked them to made action plan based on basic competency. Sita also gave difference basic competency to each group. In the end the guru imbas had to print the action plan and put their signature on it. The guru inti would bring the print out and submit it to Jakarta.

While waited for the guru imbas finished their action plan, Sita had conversations with them. Their stories were quite the same with the guru mitra stories. Since Halmahera Regency was very in range and also some islands wide spread, teachers were almost never had opportunity to gather and discussed about the teaching learning problems. Ideally teacher should gather and had a talk about the teaching learning problems in the group of teachers discussion called Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP). Therefore they missed the newest development about curriculum like syllabus and lesson plan. They also told Sita that students didn’t get proper book. Ideally a student get a book like in Jave and Jogjakarta. That’s why they became left behind. Lack of informations and lack of books. The informations made sita grief. There nothing she could do to overcome the problem. At least she could advice them to make a group discussion through Whatsapp aplication. She also gave her phone number and allowed them to feel free to discuss about the teaching learning problem with her. Sita hope that this was one solution to the problems.

05.00 PM

The printing process took time too. It was because there were only 2 the printer available for more than 200 persons. One printer provided by the education department, another one provided by SMP 1 Halmahera Utara. The guru imbas had to que for printing. Some of their laptop were not installed with the printer. They had to use others laptop that had been installed. It prolonged the process. Some guru imbas came from Kao teluk sub district which is located about 200 Km from tobelo. We let the group printed the action plan first. Because their journey came back home would be long and dark.

06.00 PM

Finally, the workshop ended. All guru imbas had printed their action plan. Sita, Dini, Datik and Mr. Yanto felt exhausted. But before going to the room they had to print some forms to observe learning process by guru mitra and guru inti in SMP 1,6 and 5. Finished printing, they went to the room and had a bath.

07.30 PM

Mrs. Elah called Sita, Dini and Datik to come downstair and had dinner. They asked michael the bell boy to buy them dinner. They had fried rice and Mrs. Elah added some fried fish for side dish. They also ordered some orange juice. There was something funny about how they packed the orange juice. There were two knots on the plastic wrap. Sita wonder how the plastic shape was.

Sita and her guru inti friends felt sad because tomorrow Mrs. Elah would leave them. All Facilitators would come back to Jakarta after workshop. Starting tomorrow Sita and her friends would do the activities by themselves. But that’s okay. The guru inti would be in a high spirit finishing the OJL 2. Although it would be quite lonely without Mrs. Elah.

They finished dinner and went back to the room. Sita and her friends prepared some questionaire from the ministry to the students and teachers in partner school. Sita also checked her teaching media. She checked some pictures she brought and some jumbled words. She would like to teach about hobbies, It has been approved together with guru mitra before OJL 2.

Finally, sita went to the bed. She couldn’t wait to see and teach the students in Halmahera Utara. It would be fun tomorrow. Then, She had wander in the land of dream.
